CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACTION

July 2 – September 11, 2016

Opening Reception: July 28, 2016, 5:00 PM
In Canada, conversations about abstract painting are often firmly rooted in the historical, with major Canadian abstract movements the central focus. However long the tradition of abstraction in painting, contemporary artists from the Ottawa region still breathe new life into the genre.

Contemporary Abstraction is a selection of the abstract pieces from the ART Rental and Sales collection. Contemporary Abstraction looks to the gestural, colourful and diverse to create dialogue between the legacy of abstraction and the vibrant arts community working today in the Ottawa region.
