At the chic in-thing of late
spring, guests sampled
delicacies prepared by the city's best restaurants and caterers,
surrendered to
delirium while sipping hibiscus martinis, hobnobbed,
supported OAG, bid
on works by over forty of the region's hottest artists, made friends, met artists,
became part of the frenzy and caught Spring Fever!
The Ottawa Art Gallery's annual art auction, held on
Thursday, June 3, was a great success. Guests celebrated
the season with a mixture of unique art work, wonderful food,
drinks and surprise gift packages with Ottawa area artists,
restaurants, caterers, and sponsors—all playing a major
role in the celebration. The Board of Directors and staff wish
to thank the many artists,
volunteers, restaurants, caterers and businesses who generously
donated or volunteered at the event. With their help,
OAG was able to increase the revenue generated, raising over
$38,000—a record for the Gallery. Officially opened
by Mayor Bob Chiarelli, and hosted by Sandra Abma of CBC
Radio and Dave Stephens of The New RO, many new faces joined
with past guests to enjoy the gala evening. Media coverage
from CBC Radio, The Ottawa Citizen and The New RO lead to
increased ticket sales, while participating artists outdid
themselves with innovative artwork making the bidding a competitive
activity. Again this year, the sponsoring caterers and restaurants
treated everyone with their culinary artistry. Donations
from many leading Ottawa businesses made the gift
box surprises a great success.
