20 + 35
ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION
Tuesday, 18 November 2008, 5:30 p.m.
Grand Hall, Canadian Museum of Civilization
“The last few decades have belonged to a certain kind of person with a certain kind of mind — computer programmers who could crank code, lawyers who could craft contracts, MBAs who could crunch numbers. But the keys to the kingdom are changing hands.
“We are moving from an economy and society built on the logical, linear, computerlike capabilities of the Information Age to an economy and society built on the inventive, empathic, big-picture capabilities of what's rising in its place, the Conceptual Age. Artists, inventors, designers, storytellers … will now reap society's richest rewards and share its greatest joys.”
– Daniel H. Pink
The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is a catalyst for creative exchange in Ottawa and an integral part of the city's future. With the generous patronage of the Right Honorable Beverley McLachlin, Chief Justice of Canada, OAG's 20 + 35 anniversary celebrations will culminate November 18 with Get Smart for Art, a “soirée summit” for creators, thinkers, and leaders from business, government and the arts – all committed to the gallery's future.
Get Smart for Art will feature exciting visual art, a cocktail reception, a gourmet dinner, and a provocative presentation by DANIEL H. PINK, best-selling author of A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future, former White House speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore, and currently, Season 2 guest on Oprah's Soul Series.
Train Your Brain for the Future
“Daniel suggests that right-brain directed aptitudes, when complemented with left-brain directed thinking, can result in a 'whole new mind'. He says this new mind is what we need to prosper in a 'whole new world'.”
– Oprah
Funds raised from the Get Smart for Art event will support the objectives of providing a new home for The Ottawa Art Gallery and enhancing the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art.
