Caroline Langill: Custody of
the Eyes |

|
Influenced by contemporary cinema, Caroline Langill has sought to impart narratives to the viewer through her installations--works that are sometimes kinetic and often include audio components. Her films, videos and installations reflect her fascination with stories about women who have been marginalized within society. Custody of the Eyes continues the artist's interest in sounding out issues relating to female identity. The works presented are inspired by the lives of two very different women living in two very different eras: Saint Teresa of Avila and Janis Babson of Nepean (formerly CityView), Ontario. In response to Langill's installation inspired by Saint Theresa of Avilla, Garay presents a history of medieval women mystics. $8 |
