Seriously Creative: Zita Cobb

  • Desmarais Building 55 Laurier Avenue East Ottawa, ON, K1N Canada (map)

Join Zita Cobb for a free noontime lecture as part of the Ottawa Art Gallery’s series: Seriously Creative.

Seriously Creative is a talk series highlighting creative leaders from across Canada whose practice intentionally leverages the arts in service of transformation and social change.

Zita Cobb is co-founder and CEO of the Shorefast Foundation, a registered Canadian charity, and founder and innkeeper of the Fogo Island Inn. Following a successful career in the high-tech sector, she returned home to Fogo Island to help secure a resilient economic and cultural future for this singular rural place. Along with her brothers Anthony and Alan, Zita has established various social enterprise initiatives, including the Fogo Island Inn, Fogo Island Shop, and Fogo Island Fish. Shorefast’s work also includes the world-renowned Fogo Island Arts contemporary artist-in-residency program, academic and geology residencies, and a series of initiatives around creating a higher fidelity relationship with our oceans. Zita’s vision for place-based economic and social development provides an example for other rural communities seeking renewal.
